How do you craft your story?
How you manage non verbals onstage? How do you master voice throw to influence thought and emotion?
How do you convey your domain expertise while remaining humble?
What are the benefits of being a public speaker and how does one get speaking opportunities?
These are just some of the topics that Master speaker Vidya Moorthy will cover. Some of the areas she will help you build expertise are:
If you're familiar with us, you know our mission is to empower the Indian Woman Professional Community with unparalleled value. We had the opportunity to interview this trailblazer who shattered barriers in the Comedy Arena—none other than the extraordinary Zarna Garg.
See our learnings from the interview
Indian Women Professionals had a great first conference where women not only heard from great speakers but also had the opportunity to workshop with other women like themselves and network at a deeper level.
Women arrived early and eager, ready to get their headshots from Durga Sethuraman, one of our members who is also a Technical Solutions Engineer at Google.
We started the formal session sharp on time with our founder Priya Menon giving her welcome note and setting the tone, telling all attendees that the FEARLESS conference was a no-judgement zone. She reiterated the need for us all to give more of ourselves, the broad theme with which the Indian Women Professionals organization had been founded.
The conference was tailored to be more interactive and it started out with Sharanya Rao guiding us through an ice-breaker.
Sharanya is a wise and experienced facilitator and people soon warmed up to the idea of sharing their own experiences.
We next had breakout sessions, a resume review and a public speaking workshop.
Heera Pillai, long time recruiter for Meta sat down in 1-1 sessions, at a table outside the conference room, with those that had brought their resumes to be reviewed.
Meanwhile, inside the conference room Vidya Moorthy, serial entrepreneur and eloquent public speaker gave us a 1 hour workshop in the Open Mic session.
Vidya took us through some tips for the first 20 minutes and the rest of the time women had the opportunity to come up to the microphone and practice and get immediate feedback from Vidya. So many were the hands that went up for a chance, that the hour flew by and we couldn't get to everyone who wanted to. It was definitely an hour well spent for the attendees.
The Panel Discussion came up next where Priya Menon sparked up discussions with Kavitha Imani, Sabari Raja, Swati Nigam and Anjali Kaul Zutshi. The panel discussion covered many topics primary among which were the need portray women in a better light, to not be invisible and how to build a narrative around the accomplishments of women. The theme resonated well with the audience and they were thrilled to have 4 amazing leaders to network with and ask questions to.
The room buzzed with conversation during the very short lunch hour where people got to relax and get to know each other better.
The last workshop of the day was to the be 'Solve it with an Exec' role play workshop. Every table had a group of 4-5 women, one of whom was in a leadership position. Each table also had a printed packet of role play scenarios that the leaders guided them through. The room reverberated with the buzz of discussions, questions being asked and debates happening. As with the previous workshops of the day, this one too finished too soon and since things had to move on time, it was soon time to wrap up.
A thank you speech and a few awards were given but we were not ready to let everyone go just yet. We had another trick up our sleeves.
Energetic Bollywood dance artist Heera Pillai brought in her speaker and lo and behold - there she was, finishing up excitement of the day with a hot session of Bombay Jam. All in all you can say the day ended on a very high note and you can bet women were motivated to be FEARLESS!
FEARLESS is IWP’s flagship conference, designed to equip women with the confidence, connections, and tools to take control of their careers. While the event is targeted toward South Asian women, it is open to all women seeking to grow professionally and personally.
Many women struggle with networking anxiety, often attending conferences in familiar circles but missing out on meaningful connections. FEARLESS is designed to break these barriers through:
